It has come to our attention that there are a lot of rumors and misinformation being spread regarding the reasons for cancelling elementary classes on Monday, February 6 th . Yes, there was an issue with roaches in isolated areas of the elementary side of the school. The district brought in a professional
exterminator to address this problem. During the application process it was required to remove items from classroom and hallway storage areas in different places throughout the elementary. We were instructed to leave these items out of storage until Monday morning. This resulted in a large number of
items in classrooms and hallways. The decision was made to cancel classes in an effort to provide staff time to clean, organize storage areas and clear classrooms. The district has contracted with a professional pest control company to continue addressing the current issue and to provide ongoing, interior and exterior, pest and rodent control.
Thank you,
Huntington School District
